I start my Nepal trip in Kathmandu in October and as yet haven%26#39;t purchased any trekking poles as they are quite expensive here in Australia. Has anyone bought poles in Kathmandu and can you get brands such as Leki? What sort of prices?

I%26#39;m not a great expert on brands (and don%26#39;t think you should be for Nepal trek) and prices down there -but reasonable quality poles in Kathmandu - new, Korean and similar - are about 15 USD.

How did your trek go. Was it a problem finding poles in katmandu? We arrive the day before we start so a little pressed for time. Are shops open on a sunday?
shops in thamel are open everyday!
interestingly, our guide told us that they only have saturday for weekend. sunday is considered a working day like monday - fridays!

Thankyou for asking about my trip. Had a brilliant time in Nepal, two great treks and a trip to chitwan. No problems finding trekking poles and Thamel is the place to go. Enjoy your trip.
