How good is the mountain view from Nagarkot?

How good is the mountain view from Nagarkot?

The view from Nagarkot can be good, though obviously weather-dependant ! As Nagarkot itself is a bit of a non-event (other than the view) I%26#39;d suggest that you are driven out there to arrive mid/late afternoon, and leave after breakfast the following morning. Ideally leave via private car to Bhaktapur, one of the chief jewels of the Kathmandu Valley, which is well worth a full day (architecturally and culturally stunning) and an overnight (the atmosphere in the traffic-free central squares in the evening is magical).

I%26#39;ve never been to Manakamana, but suggest that it would have to be pretty remarkable to justify spending one of your seven days by being driven along the Kathmandu - Pokhara road, a frenetic and fraught journey whether by car or bus. Unless you MUST go to Manakamana I%26#39;d have thought flying both ways is a better option. The mountain views from the plane (sit on right on the KTM - Pokhara flight) are likely to be superb.

Pokhara is very different from KTM - much more laid-back, less obviously cultural, but more relaxing. It%26#39;s worth taking a taxi to Saragkot for either sunrise or sunset over the Annapurnas - a more impressive view than from Nagarkot as the mountains are much closer. Most hotels will be able to sort transport for you.

Enjoy

Hi we just arrived a few days ago. The view is great. We arrived in Nagarkot directly from the airport around 4pm. Was nice. the following morning very early we took the taxi to the view point where you can see the sunrise, it is incredible, so nice. around lunch time we went to Bhaktapur where we were based, and from there we did all the valley: Kathamandu, Pashupatinath, Boudah, Patan and Panauti.

Bhaktapur at night (and during the day too) is so nice!!! lovely, I would stay in Kathmandu as from Bhaktapur you can do the same seightseeings and the town is lovely.

We also did Changu Narayan which is just a few kilometres north of Bhaktapur.

We loved Nepal and we will be back.

Cheers

Juan
