You can buy those in Nepal itself, if you chose to do that. Go to any departmental stores and you will find plenty of models and variety.

What I would suggest is, if you can spare around 100 dollars, buy them solar lights that will support three to five lights. The light is more sustainable and cost effective than the rechargeable lights. The load shedding is here to stay for at least another five years :)

Hi all; namaste!

I look at the answer as a very true thing.

Hope Nepal is capable to use it%26#39;s huge potential in hydro and solar power soon.

Would be great towards Nepal%26#39;s environment.

Happy travels,

Grtz,

Hi before heading off and buying stuff from the west, one should consider if the parts are available in Nepal? Should a bulb, inverter, fuse or whatever break will the family you are buying for be able to get replacement parts?

While %26#39;everything%26#39; is repairable in Nepal, sometimes it%26#39;s best to support the local industry too. When I was there there were plenty of local companies trying to produce Nepalese lights, water heaters etc.

Competition the west and China is strong for cheap solutions. But it was good to see locally produced things thriving in the more remote areas.

Personally if you want something sustainable, I would buy in country. See what the requirements are before bringing.

For yourself, and batteries I would invest in a 15 minute AA/AAA battery charger and a load of those batteries for head torches etc. You might find the site www.thelongestwayhome.com helpful for some other tips.

Hope this helps a little

Thanks for that - yep loads of batteries and card games cant wait it will be like going back years and wow what Bonding our family will do -
