University

Hi I%26#39;m trying to decide on where i want to study abroad for a semester abroad and I am considering Tribhuvan University. Could any one tell me what the town and area is like for a University student and if anyone has ever been if they could tell me what the thought about their time there that would be great thanks in advance

University

If you are joining the University campus in Kirtipur, then it is on the outskirts of Kathamndu - about half an hour drive on a local bus from the main city. The town of Kirtipur is nearby the university and most people studying in the university stay on rented rooms in Kirtipur. However, if you are studying in other campuses that are recognized by Tribhuvan University, then that is a different question. I think some foreign students do take a study abroad program in Nepal. And if you have not yet decided on the university yet, you might also want to consider Kathmandu University (http://www.ku.edu.np/) in Dhulikhel as well.

University

Yes I am Talking about the campus in Kirtipur what is that town like? would most people stay there? or go into kathmandu. and I would wanna explore alot of nepal is it cheap to travel within the country? Thanks in advance

Or would you recommend the University in Dhulikhel?

It is better to leave close to the uni. That way you%26#39;ll be saving on your daily to and from transportation cost. Kirtipur is right on the southwest side of Kathmandu, think of it like what Newark is to New York. Up the hill from the uni is Kirtipur proper, down the hill is Kathmandu.

If you are looking for a better university atmosphere, I would recommend Kathmandu University over Tribhuvan. Getting to Kathmandu from there during weekends/holidays is not a problem at all. Plus they have American styled two-semester-a-year classes, as opposed to more traditional Nepali styled classes at TU. Also KU is a four year uni, but am not so sure about TU - last time I checked some courses were 3-yr undergraduate degree while others were 4-yr.

For somebody from the US, I would recommend KU over TU. But it%26#39;s your call at the end.
