survived first visit to nepal!

hi, just want to share our experience of holidaying in nepal during christmas of last year. nepal is unlike any other countries that we have visited! we stayed at courtyard hotel in kathmandu and worked out an itinerary with the helpful owners. we visited all the touristy sights including the stupas, temples and the towns of patan and baktapur. even caught sight of the new living goddess, kumari! took a mountain flight on board buddha air which was awesome. spent two nights in chiwan national park, went on an elephant ride and jungle walk and also saw the way the local tribe, the tharu people lived in their mud houses. on the way, stopped for white-water rafting, ran by a group of very enterprising young people. also spent 2 nights in pokhara which is a lakeside town. pokhara is less chaotic than kathmandu so it is nicer to walk around. went paragliding in pokhara. shopping in nepal is good, very cheap. disliked the load shedding of 10 hours per day. newari food and the local nepalese food are a must. we had the best steak though, in pokhara in a restaurant called new everest steakhouse! all in all we had an amazing hol in nepal!
