ATMs in Kathmandu & Bhaktapur

I%26#39;m a little concerned about the availability of ATMs (bank machines) due to the power cuts. Would it be wise to bring some extra cash (USD) and exchange it at my hotel? My tour package includes most of the essentials, so I won%26#39;t need a huge pile of cash.

There are ATMs in Kathmandu and Bhaktapur and you can draw money from them. And you are right about being concerned about the operation time of the machines. Bring some more cash as a backup but you will probably be able to get hold of the money from the ATMs.

There are plenty of ATM%26#39;s in Kathmandu, bhaktapur and pokhara as well now. Sometimes an ATM is not working (for various reasons, not just power cuts) but usually further down the road one will be working - and most work even during power cuts. a lot of businesses inc banks in KTM now have generators to cope with daily power cuts.

Thanks everyone for this useful advice. 2 more weeks before my trip!
