Stay in Pokhara/Sarangkot?

My husband and I are planning a trip to Nepal (for the first time) and plan to stay 2 days in the Pokhara region. Will it be better to book a hotel in Pokhara itself or stay in Sarangkot (since I read that Sarangkot has nicer views, specially during sunrise and sunset?)

Thanks in advance for your suggestion..

Stay in Pokhara/Sarangkot?

I lived in Pokhara for several months.

i would suggest either stay 1 night in Sarangkot (to see sunset and sunrise) and 1 night in Pokhara or both in Pokhara. Sarangkot is the top of a hill which overlooks both the main lake in Pokhara and has an unobstructed view of the annapurna himalayan range and is better than down in Pokhara valley for the view - but unless you want to go paragliding or trek along the ridge, there is nothing much else up there to do - and the mountains are not always visible. 1 night would be enough to stay there.

Pokhara is a small peaceful town, tourists usually stay at lakeside where there is a long road along the lake filled with guesthouses, shops, restaurants (many of which overlook the lake) and transport easily available. From Lakeside you can take a boat across the lake to see annapurna himalayas reflected in the water, climb to the Peace Stupa on the hill opposite where you see Pokhara city and mountains reflected in lake, go to Devi%26#39;s falls, mountain museum or one of other lakes etc. Some people stay at lakeside and take a taxi partway up Sarangkot, then walk 3o minutes to top to see sunrise or sunset and either walk back down to PKR (few hours) or take taxi down

enjoy your stay, Pokhara is a lovely spot with lovely people
