This is letter of recommendation for BALKRISHNA TAMANG who served as our guide on a 15 day trek in the Annapurna region. We found him to be a really first-rate guide, caring and protective, very versatile, friendly and Cheerful, knowledgeable about the area with a good command of English. He has worked at all levels of trekking including that of cook, as we learned to our pleasure one evening at a lodge when BAL offered to cook us dinner: he produced the best meal of our trek ! His gregariousness and friendly relations with the Nepalis we met was a bonus in drawing us into Nepali life. His skill as a guide most come out one day when we left the trail without consulting him. He had to rescue us from a most difficult situation checking out steps in a cliff side, guiding us across a turbulent river.
