Independent trekking vs organised group

Hi,

My boyfriend and I are going to be trekking in Nepal for two weeks, and still haven%26#39;t decided whether to go independently, or go with an organised group.

From what I understand, trekking independently is cheaper. The main attraction for a group is we want to meet people. Our time in Nepal is part of a 3 month trip, and by the time we%26#39;re in Nepal, we think we%26#39;ll be craving some extra company. How likely are we to meet up with people and spend time with them if we%26#39;re trekking on our own?

I%26#39;m not sure if independent trekking is still allowed. You may want to check on the status of the TRC (Trekking Registration Certificate) program introduced by the government last year. I believe you are now required to go through an agency.

We trekked independently last year, just before these rules went into effect. We met other trekkers at hotels along the way. We didn%26#39;t end up trekking with any of them (different groups go at different paces), but did run into some again later on the trail.

Hello friend,

How are you and how is your planning going on?

I am Upendra Duwadi from Kathmandu Nepal and a professional trekking guide from Nepal. I am providing information to the people of foreign countries about trekking in Nepal.

First of all I am sorry to say but I must say you that can you buy your body in money? If not then why you are choosing the cheap way rather than the safe way? Jerm is wrong in some terms that in Nepal here is not TRC (Trekking Registration Certificate) system but we have got other permits like National Park Permit and TIMS (Trekker%26#39;s Information Management System). You can do independent trekking too but always be aware about your safety.

Why do you want to but your life in money? In one hand if you only hire a trekking guide not a porter it will provide you more safety and in another hand you will contribute to one Nepalese person if you give him a job and it does not cost a lot.

Think of it.

Have a nice day and best of luck for trekking in Nepal. If you need any further information then please do not hesitate to contact me. I will provide you any information that I know.

Regards,

Upendra Duwadi

Hi,

Definately you can do independentely alone and saperately. You can also get TRC but you have both good and bad points of organize trek and independent trek.

If you do independent trek really your cost will be low but you can faces some of the problem if there will be some acceptional cases of safety.

If you do through agency you can get more safety and better management because they have authority from government.

So my suggestion to you,you have to think about it before last decision.

Best of luck
