Can I keep my hiking pole in my hand carry on luggage?

I will have my hiking pole inside my hand carry on luggage.I do not have any check in luggages. Is this a problem when departing from JFK airport to Nepal and also when coming back to US? Will the TSA confiscate my pole?

Much appreciated.

Hi,

I hope no but better if you put separately in your luggage if necessary you can see them easily.

Cheers

I am sure you will not be allowed to take it as carry on. However, you will be able to buy one in KTM very cheaply.

If purchased in Kat, could I transport it via Yeti Air with me to Pokhara?

Alternately, can the poles be purchased in Pokhara?

I am starting the Jomsom Trek 28 Mar.

The TSA%26#39;s official list of prohibited items is here: tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permi…

They don%26#39;t specifically mention hiking poles, but ski poles are banned as carry-ons. My guess would be that a collapsable, rubber-tipped hiking pole would be OK in your carry-on luggage, but if it%26#39;s full-sized, non-collapsing or has a pointy end it%26#39;s not OK.
