';ITrekNepal'; or ';Iexplore';

My friend and her husband will be traveling over to Nepal to start a hike up Mt. Everest to celebrate his 40th birthday. They are speaking with tour operators ';ITrekNepal'; or ';Iexplore'; Has anyone used either of these companies? Can anyone give a review of either or both of these companies? Anything you have would be great help.

Thanks,

I don´t have experience with either companies you mentioned.

However, if you would like to compare their offers, I can truly recommend a local agency, located in Thamel, Kathmandu.

The companies name is Above the Himalaya, and the owners name is Puru Timalsena. They are exceptionally good in personalised itineraries, and offer good service and fair prices.

I don´t want to publish their contactdetails here, but through google you can find their information easily.

Enjoy planning your journey!

Thank you very much for the suggestion!

My husband and I spent a month in Nepal last November. We did consider ITrekNepal and they seem reputable. However, we chose Above the Himalya Trekking because it was cheaper. The company is based in Kathmandu and the director Puru Timalseena was fabulous. He quickly responded to every e-mail and was attentive to every detail of our trip. The guide and porter were great. We found Nepal to be an unforgettable country and will return soon.

I have not experience any of these companies you mentioned above, however you may compare the offer with outfitter Nepal as i and my girl friend had great trip with them Recently, you may look for Outfitter Nepal and inwuiry them more about your trip.

thanks

Also you may try with www.nepalhiking.com

I feel that it%26#39;s much better a to use a Nepali-owned, Kathmandu-based company; they tend to be quite cost-effective as, unlike the world market-leaders it doesn%26#39;t advertise in The West, produce glossy brochures, maintain European and US offices and staff. It also means that all the money you pay is going directly into Nepal.

The following list is drawn from postings from, as far as I can tell, genuine travellers.

Apart from the first one I can’t speak from personal experience !

My own favourite

We have used a Nepalese firm called %26#39;Spirit of the Himalayas%26#39; for several trips, (and their manager, Sanam Singh, since 1996 when he was working for another firm, learning his trade). Each trip has been tailor-made just for me and the people I’m with - anything from 2 to 8 people: no joining a group of strangers ! They organise the whole trip to meet whatever we want, starting from pick-up at Kathmandu Airport on arrival, including all transfers, hotels, Nepalese trekking staff, rafting excursions, cultural sight-seeing, etc., and finishing with transfer back to the airport at the end. They’ve organised trekking peak expeditions,. Camping treks. Tea House treks, for me. They have always been very helpful and efficient, and provided excellent Nepali staff.

It%26#39;s a Nepali-owned company, and consequently quite cost-effective.

It%26#39;s worth emailing them nepshol@mos.com.np describing roughly what you want, and asking them to come up with suggestions, an itinerary, and a price.

We just returned from a month-long trip to Nepal which was arranged by Puru at Above the Himalaya Treking, Thamel. We cannot recommend him enough. He was competent and extremely helpful..You can reach him at puruotam@hotmail.com. Tell him that Carol and Jim recommended him.

The first one are agents for World Expeditions and the second are agents for Himalayan Kingdoms. Both western companies with great reputations.

I used a single tour guide (CorsaNepal) in April for my trip to Kat, Pokhara, Sarangkot and Bhaktapur and was very pleased...comprehensive and personal service. (The owner actually phoned me while I was Stateside to help me through my pre-trip anxiety!!!!)

More details at their website: http://www.corsanepaladventure.com/
