Kathmandu / Tibet - Tour Operator?

I am planning to visit Nepal in April 2008 and would be curious to go to Tibet for a few days. My plan would be to fly from Kathmandu to Lhassa and come back overland (Everest Base Camp).

Any recommended tour operator (quality/price)that you have experienced?

Budget: $500-$900 USD

Time available: 8-10 days

Thanks!

Quebec:

If your budget includes air fare from Kathmandu to Lhasa and 8 days of travel, I think that might not be possible. However, other posters may have some more creative ideas.

Your plan sound good as the trip from Lhasa to Kathmandu via the friendship high way is beautiful and unique, you can see the world top ranking mountains in the Himalayan range including Mt Everst 8844m. Your time avialable is perfect for the trip, but the price that you mentioned is impossible. Overall length of the road covers about 900km and some part of it is only safe and comfortable by Land cruiser, not all the ordinary cars.

Hi There,

Saw the post above and also would like to add something that might be useful for you. Well, if you make this trip opposite rather that you are thought then cost can be enough at 900US$ or plus bit more because it%26#39;s not possible to issue the individual permit and visa for tibet.

So, my opinion says you may choose your trip as drive in/fly out rather than fly in/drive out.

Please drop me a line if you need to know something more. Thank you.

Hi NakulNepal,

I am not the author of this argument but I am interested on your considerations. As QuebecFB we (2 persons) are planning a 8 days in Tibet during our visit in Nepal (September) and I am trying to understand which is the best way to do this (car/flight/visa etc)!

Thank you in advance

Greeting from Italy
